A PERSPECTIVE ON CHINA | MONTHLY LECTURE SERIES

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2006 | 6:30 - 8:30PM

JIANG JUN [CN] Editor-in-chief URBAN CHINA Magazine | Architect | Director Underline Office

Introduction by WEI WEI SHANNON | Co-founder people's architecture
Discussion moderated by CLIFFORD PEARSON [US] Deputy editor ARCHITECTURE RECORD

China's urban and architectural transformation not only alert's the daily fabric; but is also forcing a dramatic change in its culture, media, communication and advertisement industry. This convergence raises questions about one's identity but is also the motor for creativity. The CHINA VISUAL CULTURE lecture examines the new ways and forms of representing those changes; whether they are emerging new architectural magazines, billboards, photography, the internet and blog culture or the way they infuse global culture with Chinese characteristic. A unique insight in this multilayered meaning of Urban China will enable us to understand the effect of urban renewal on Chinese culture and society.
